a competitive eleventh grader

Welcome to 31 days of Media Memories.  If you’re scratching your head because you have no idea what I’m talking about, start here.

31 days 2014I loved my history class in 11th grade. My teacher would set up a game of Jeopardy on the chalkboard each week and it was his way of quizzing us on what we learned. I was always up for a little friendly competition. He also always had a bonus question on the end of the week test. If you wonder how I feel about bonus questions, check out yesterday’s post.

I was in the middle of reading Uncle Tom’s Cabin one week and I had it sitting on my desk. After taking my tests, I would usually read a book while the other students finished. That week the bonus question was, “Who wrote the book Uncle Tom’s Cabin?”

I quickly wrote ‘Harriet Beecher Stowe’ and then turned my book upside down just in case I got in trouble for cheating….and so my neighbors couldn’t see the answer. Yeah I was awesome like that.  Or not.

    • I stressed a little bit, too. But not enough to actually stop me from cheating. I’m horrible. My husband doesn’t even like to play games with me and watches me like a hawk. I told him if you’re not cheating you’re only hurting yourself. I need prayer.

penny for your thoughts...
