My Reads

I’d like to thank my good friend, Bekah, for the eloquent blog post title.  Not sure what I’d do without her.

I read a lot.  If you asked my husband, he might tell you I read all of the time.  That would be an exaggeration.  I think.  I have to stop and make supper, on occasion, ya know. But honestly, I do love to read.  So, I thought I’d share what I’ve read recently and/or am now reading.  I’m not sure I’ll give a synopsis of every book.  But maybe I will if I really like it.  And hopefully this will become a regular blog post.  We shall see.

First up!  I’m in a book club and this month’s book is Running Blind by Lee Child.

The main character is Jack Reacher…there’s a movie out this weekend.  I guess he is a character in a lot of the author’s books.  I’d never read any but I will say that I enjoyed this one.  It is a mystery/thriller and I will probably read some more of his books.

I just finished the latest John Grisham book, The Racketeer. the racketeer

I’ve read all of his books and this one was not my favorite, but it was a quick and entertaining read.

I really like to go to the children’s section at the library and check out Newberry Award winners.  They are usually fast reads and really great books.  I just finished Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli.maniac magee

And right now I’m reading Milkweed by the same author. The story takes place during WWII.  I’m not very far along but so far it is really good.

Another book that I just started is called The Black Count by Tom Reiss.

This one is non-fiction and is the story of Alexandre Dumas’ father.  I’m very excited to get into this book because I absolutely love the stories of The 3 Musketeers and The Man in the Iron Mask.  And The Count of Monte Cristo is one of my all time favorite books.

So are there any other avid readers out there?  Do you read mostly fiction or non-fiction?  I’d love to hear your favorite book from this past year…or month if you’re like me and can’t remember much from two weeks ago:)  I’m always excited to find new authors and/or books to read.  So please, do share!

  1. I don’t know how you can read so many books so quickly! I have about that many on my night stand, but they’ve been there for at least 6 months. hahaha

  2. I just read a book called.. (This is kind of embarassing..) “MWF Seeking BFF”. Haha. It’s actually very funny and interesting. It’s a non-fiction book about a girl living in a new city who is trying to make friends. AKA it’s about me. Only she is way more brave and adventurous.

    • meeting friends in a new city is hard! I’ve been there and I’m not brave or adventurous either. If you’re interested, you could join my book club. There are two girls in it that live in Ft. Wayne. And Bekah comes about once a year:)

  3. I LOVE reading too – but don’t make it too much of a priority…or don’t give it enough time! I just finished some REALLY cheesey Christmas stories (the Christmas Shoes author) – but loved the them of the books for this time of year 🙂 I’m back to finishing 1,000 gifts. Once that is done, I’m tackling the Chronicles of Narnia – the gift I got ‘for’ Joel for Christmas 🙂
